The main symptoms of arthritis are joint pain and stiffness.
These symptoms will get worse with age. The most common
types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Osteoarthritis is mainly caused by day-to-day wear and tear
on the joints. On the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis is an
autoimmune disorder. Aside from the two main forms of
arthritis, other types of arthritis can also be formed due
to uric acid crystals, infections or even diseases, such as
psoriasis or lupus.

The most common symptoms of arthritis occur in the
proximity around the joints.

WHAT CAUSES ARTHRITIS?

To understand how arthritis is caused we must first understand how the body and joints move. Ligaments hold our bones together. These ligaments act like elastic bands while keeping the bones in place. Muscles relax or contract to make the joint move. Cartilage covers the bone’s surface to stop bones from rubbing directly against each other. The covering of cartilage allows the joint to work smoothly and painlessly. Arthritis is caused by the wear-and-tear damage to your joint’s cartilage — the hard, slick coating on the ends of bones. Enough damage can result in bone grinding directly on bone, which causes pain and restricted movement. This wear and tear can occur over many years, or it can be hastened by a joint injury or infection. The pain and stiffness in joints is a result of arthritis.
